Just saying...............

Getting old sucks!
and I'm sure I'm not alone with this feeling.

LOL

I've worked a long time finishing these blocks...yep I know I'm slow, but sewing is just for my own pleasure.  I added some of the sashing and laid them out on the bed.

I quickly saw that I was three blocks short.  No big deal.  I finally figured out that I was suppose to make four of the same block and put them in the corners.

Today, I went to take a couple of photos for my blog which I have definitely been ignoring since the holidays.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

I can plainly see I've used two different background fabrics.  Why am I just seeing this today, I don't know.  Mick says I never notice anything.  Houses have been built in our neighborhood that I've never noticed going up.

Looks like I might have to get that cataract surgery sooner than I planned....:(
So much for working under Ott Lights.

I won the potholder on the right at Bunco when I was about 30....39 years ago.

It's seen better days.  Since it was always my favorite, I decided that I'd just make another.  I won't share how much fabric I used to make the one on the left....giggle.  I kept cutting it backwards.  Due to some cutting problems it came out a little smaller, and yes I forgot the inside lining and to quilt it.  Seems like more is going wrong with me than just my eyes.

Just saying...........

Yea!!!  My pity party is over.  Off to read.

That's a scrappy quilt of many colors, so two different backgrounds work for me. And my SIL made a bunch of pinch type potholders and forgot the lining, too - she's younger than you.

Your Farm Fresh Vintage blocks look gorgeous!
Congratulations on getting all of these done.
I think your new pot holder looks terrific.

hmmm...can't tell for sure from the pics but it looks like the sashing is the lighter? Maybe you could call it the shadow effect and be all artsy about it? Your potholder looks great, as if it was fussy cut so maybe it needed to be smaller? Yea, I have been feeling my age lately...I need one of those chains for my reading glasses, can't see anything without them and I lay them down and forget where constantly.

Your blocks are beautiful. I love the bright colors. The pot holder is really different very exclusive. The chicken material just sets it off great. I just make easy plain pot holders.

Look at all those perfectly pieced blocks! Love them. That chicken fabric is fabulous. I won't tell you how much fabric I used on the "L" for a baby quilt. Seesh good thing I got it right on the last try or I would have had to find a different fabric. seems like the replay button gets stuck once in a while.

Lots of quilts have different backgrounds making up the whole. Looks great. Love your potholder, too.

Organic. Remember this word. It is very important!
Organic is anything that has not come out like you planned it to, in the first place. Organic is good. It's okay!
I make a LOT of organic things. It's all natural!

your blocks look great on the bed and I certainly cannot spot different background fabric in them. The pot holder is far too nice to use and get dirty. Bes of luck with the cataract had mine down over 10 years ago now, unfortunately I still need glasses though.

There are no prizes for speedy quilt. I just work at my own pace and my projects slowly get finished. My frustration is with where I put things. They just walk away! Blessings, Gretchen

WOW! You mean I'm not the only one that cuts things out several times to get it right and I too have used two different whites in blocks only to find out 20 blocks later they aren't the same! I don't think I have ever had a quilt come out the same size as the pattern originally states no matter how many times I check for that exact quarter inch! I have finally decided the quilt police to do not need to look at my quilts they are for people to love, wash and use up so I can make them another one. Mary - mburnette912@bellsouth.net

Even if it has the two backgrounds it'll just make for an interesting quilt. In the many decades to follow and many of your off spring will look at it and marvel besides wonder why Grandma did that and isn't it lovely! So unpredictable and avant garde!

For the Q-1 FAL I slated to make some potholders and I noticed the useful shape yours was so I printed out a picture of yours to use when I go to work it up this week. Looks like it would be perfect coverage for your hands towards the hot pans with that wider rounded section. Thanks!

Here's what I like about getting older. I can do what I want and anyone who doesn't like it, I just tell them to get lost. I don't care if people think I'm a cranky old woman. I don't care if my face scares little children. I don't care about a lot of things that used to fret me - including using two different backgrounds on the blocks of a quilt. So what? =) It's a gorgeous quilt and anyone who says differently can ... well, get lost! LOL Love your potholder. It doesn't need another thing done to it. It's perfect!

Such beautiful blocks you've made. I love the scrappy look. And isn't it so that this is our hobby and joy? Some days I'm lucky by just looking at and touching by beautiful fabrics. And remember that quilters are never getting old!

I don't think the variety in backgrounds matters at all! What a lovely quilt top!!

Hm...well, I think once it's quilted you're not even going to notice. Don't despair, just take a look at some antique quilts and look how wonderful they are even though they've done the same thing!!! Matchy matchy is a relatively modern quilt invention. Your blocks are just wonderful and you are going to love cuddling under that quilt, Billie.

Love your new potholder - perfect fabric for it! I really like the shape.
