Give me a "Y", Give me a "Seam", Give me a "Y Seam" in Blue!

So Scrappy is having a 2011 Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  The first color selected was blue.
Well I had some bluesh (is that a word??) scraps.
I also am following a Bucket Skills Project on CyberQuilters.
The first skill was to try something in diamonds with a Y-seam.
Not my favorite, but here is what I did.
Here's the front of my Mug, Candle, or whatever rug.
Here's the back.
The Block came from Quilts for All Seasons
Here's the block.
The block didn't turn out too bad, but I was confused about the mitered corners
on a hexagon.  I should have waited for Sharon V's reply.
She found a great tutorial on the from the blue chair
on binding hexagon quilts....Thanks Sharon.

Live and learn.  I have a couple of funky miters.  It does add a weird twist...LOL.
Yes I left them rather than redo all my binding.

Billie - good for you! A new technique, a stash busting, and a finish. Gotta love them 3's. You should put that in MSamm's mug rug contest - I think it is very unique!

Inset seams can be a real bear. I am hoping that they get easier with practice. Your block looks great! Congratulations on getting it finished off.

I believe the word is bluish - but I know what you meant - you have some nice bluish scraps. And the y-seam project turned out great! A lovely mug rug.
