In From The Cold

Block 1

Block 1 is finished, but I will probably redo my steam.  In fact, I'm sure I'll redo it.  I used a variegated thread which didn't turn out like envisioned ....hahaha....need some glasses.  Plus, it's pretty crooked, and I used a  stem stitch which made it too thick.

Yep!  I know the directions said to use a running stitch.  NEXT time I'll use my glasses, a solid gray, follow the directions, and maybe try to steady my hand.

Hmmmm......the more I look at this picture the more the cup leans a little to the right.

I'm using my Noteworthy fat quarter bundle.

Yes, I know it's a Spring fabric.  However, we can't wait for cold weather in Texas to drink our Hot Chocolate.

Kris at Kris Loves Fabric ask me to QAL with her on this adorable free pattern.  Couldn't pass that new start up. This should be fun!!

Don't forget to check out Kris' blog to see her Block 1.  I already had a sneak peek and it's adorable.

The pattern is a free pattern from Moda by Kate Spain

I think the steam looks wonderful. Steam can go anywhere and be in any form. I think you should leave it be....and quit looking at the cup. It doesn't look like it's leaning to me! LOL! ;) It looks great! Good job!

It's perfect as is :)
On the next block you can try another stitch for the steam, and it will give your quilt great character to have each block a little different...and then you can say you meant to do it that way!! LOL
Love that fabric line!
Thanks for linking up!

Love your mug block. Don't you hate when things bother you enough to redo something. I chalk it up to a learning experience!

Love the cup, how cute. Really you see it tilting to the right? Are you sure you're not tilting your head, cuz it looks so perfect to me. What a sweet block

I like the steam how it is!! Its boldness emphasizes the wonderfulness of the hot drink, with all its invitation to sit down and enjoy a luxurious sipping session. I wouldn't change it at all. :D

Love your mug...so sorry I didn't post on Sunday I misunderstood...thought you wanted to do it later...I have mine scheduled to post at midnite tonight to keep from interfering with Samm's hop. I'll be better next time!

Oh Billie
You and Kris are too funny. Both the mugs look good. I wouldn't worry about the steam. I think the steam and the mug are just fine.
Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing.

If you think it tilts to the right, you obviously just need a bit of caffeine to straighten it out ;) Beautiful mug block and thank you so much for sharing it!!
