My Sweet Sammie and a Win

Looks like I'm really on his nerves....grin.  He's waiting for Daddy to come home from golf.

It's hard to see, but it's a charm pack of Kansas Trouble Perennials and some great patterns.
I'm in love with this fabric!  I think it's the best yet from KT.

It's been a nice quiet day.  I've sewn about 1/16 of a Dear Jane block.  I didn't want to wear myself out.

Dear Jane

A-7
This is my first try at a Dear Jane block.  Not sure if I'll do more or not.  You can definitely see my stitches.  I was using silk thread, but I guess it was too light.  It's so fine that I didn't think it would show.
The A-7 block on the Dear Jane CD is different from the one in Brenda's book.
This one is kind of like Brenda's.......giggle.
Well, now I can say I started my Dear Jane.

Am I Dreaming?

We've lived in this house for a little over 10 years, and this is the first fire in the fireplace.
I thought this day would never come.  Mick always said no, because at our old house
the kitty would get the ash in the fireplace confused with his litter box.....grin.

Since Elliott is no longer with us Big Mick said YES!!
We actually had all the lights off.  Must be a great flash on the camera.
New problem.  After the fake log burned down, Sammie became really interested
in the embers.............Will this be the last fire in the fireplace?

Layer Cake Quilt Along

Mr. Moosie on the Porch Block 6

I think this rainy weather is making me sleepy.  Maybe the light flowery fabric should have gone as the tops of the other strips or maybe I should have left it out all together......yawn.

LOLLLLLLLLL...I'm boring myself.

I WON on Dec 14..............

I was lucky enough to win these two wonderful books form Sarah at
I didn't discover my win until Jan 1.  I was checking for the winner, but I kept overlooking the post.
Luckily Sarah still had my books!!
If you click on the picture, you can see that the envelope has what looks like tire marks on it.  These books have had a hard time getting to me.

Thanks you Sarah for your patience!

Give me a "Y", Give me a "Seam", Give me a "Y Seam" in Blue!

So Scrappy is having a 2011 Rainbow Scrap Challenge.  The first color selected was blue.
Well I had some bluesh (is that a word??) scraps.
I also am following a Bucket Skills Project on CyberQuilters.
The first skill was to try something in diamonds with a Y-seam.
Not my favorite, but here is what I did.
Here's the front of my Mug, Candle, or whatever rug.
Here's the back.
The Block came from Quilts for All Seasons
Here's the block.
The block didn't turn out too bad, but I was confused about the mitered corners
on a hexagon.  I should have waited for Sharon V's reply.
She found a great tutorial on the from the blue chair
on binding hexagon quilts....Thanks Sharon.

Live and learn.  I have a couple of funky miters.  It does add a weird twist...LOL.
Yes I left them rather than redo all my binding.

Tangled

Isla dragged Grandma and Big Mick to see Tangled this weekend.  This was really a cute, fun, and interesting movie.  I didn't get sleepy one time.  The teenagers that sat behind us started crying, but just for a minute.

I would definitely go see it again.

Calling all Prayer Warriors

Prayer request!

Susan posted a request for prayer on her blog Life on the Bayou regarding her cancer.

My friend Linda R. fell down her basement stairs and broke her leg.  She now has rods holding it together, and she'll be having surgery on the 6th.  She is a wonderful friend and a great prayer warrior to boot.

Another friend Yolanda passed away, and I'm requesting prayer for her family.  God knows who they are.  She was so kind and always thinking of others.

My dear friend Dick passed away.  I'm requesting prayer for his wonderful wife and daughter and family.  I'll miss his laughter.  When he and Big Mick played pool, they were like a couple of kids.  Dick totally cracked me up.  Love you Dick!

My brother is still recovering from the stroke he had in March on his birthday.  Please continue to pray for him as well.

Praise report!

Ed is continuing to recover from his brain surgery.  Also requesting prayers for Kathy his wife and caregiver.

My Mom is 90 and still doing well!

My DIL that has been in the hospital at least 15 times (I've lost track) for vomiting seems to have at least a temporay solution.  One of the doctors finally slapped a motion patch behind her ear, and she actually got to spend Christmas with the family.

I know there are many more prayer request in my head, but I just woke up....grin.  You all know I stay up late and sleep late.  That's why I'm not at the quilty bee today.  Carol forgive me, I knew I wouldn't be up in time.

Please feel free to add additional prayer request and praise reports!  Also if you want to receive any comments posted to this post, please hit the subscribe button after you post your comment.

Addition:  My friend BJ over at New Girl B J has some prayer request today also.  If you are so inclined hope over to see her request and her Christmas goodies.

PigTales & Quilts Giveaway

Check out the giveaway at PigTales & Quilts
Edit:  Tell them BillieBee sent you....grin.

Lots of Leaves and Squirrel Watching

What?
Where did it go?
I know that squirrel is around here somewhere.  I can hear him fussing.
Look what dropped out of the heavens, well maybe just a tree.
It's a work of art!
Look at all the leaves.
More
and more
I think those are paper whites popping through the leaves.
I just love fall and all the leaves, the fresh fall air, the crunching when you walk.
Soon I won't be able to stop Mick from cleaning them up....grin, but I
would rather he didn't.

Two Crazy Old Fools.................giggle

Last night ringing in the New Year was just 'two crazy old fools'....yep me and Big Mickie, and we had a blast.

Mick planned our own little party.  He served Queso, Guacamole, Taquitos, beer, and Carrot cake for dessert.  Don't you just love your Carrot cake with Mexican food and beer.  It was delic!  We ate, we played his new card game, and played pool.  Then rang in the new year with a little smooching.  Not bad for an old couple who will be celebrating their 45th on the 28th of January.

Today he's cooking a small turkey breast, blackeyed peas, yeast rolls, and some more sides.  He's just slaving away while I'm blogging and eating left over Carrot cake.........................what a life!
