The book showed this block, Autumn Tints, sewn in 3 colors and it looked great. Not so much when I tried it. I used fabrics other than my Wiscassets fabric, but didn't like it much.

I agree, that second one- nope! The top one is lovely! Amazing how different fabrics can make or break a block/quilt.
The top is more the color values used for this old block. The bottome, there are too many patterns and closely related hues so they wash together. But I love the paisley.
I like the first block with the red and cream. The second one might look good in a totally scrappy quilt.
I actually liked it...but that's because you sewed it so perfectly! I love your favorites better too! Can't wait to see what that is all going to go in !
